Tom Cruise is, undisputedly, one of the most attractive men in Hollywood.Women find him irresistible and men can't help but imitate him.He was chosen as one of People Magazine's "50 Most Beautiful People in the World" three times and as "Sexiest Man Alive" in 1990.But besides natural good looks, what is it about Tom Cruise that makes him so striking?Obviously, he has been a trend setter in the fashion world ever since he first came on the scene in the early "˜80s.But his fashion sense, unlike many other celebrities, is not strictly subject to the current clothing trends.Indeed, when he appears in public, his clothing choices are sophisticated yet subdued.So what is it about his style that draws women's eyes and inspires men to emulate him?Besides a flashing, confident smile and undeniable charisma, it is his hairstyle and accessories. Tom's most frequently sported hair style is the medium-short, purposely messy look.Perhaps the best example of this "˜do is in 1996's "Mission: Impossible" or in "Jerry Maguire."It can be achieved by applying paste or gel to wet hair and working it with fingers into a moderately controlled mess.Of course, this style can now be seen on every other man walking down the street, but when it first surfaced on the fashion scene, it was on male runway models.It seems that men perceived using hair products as a little less taboo if the super-cool Tom Cruise could pull it off as secret agent Ethan Hunt.Besides, this look gave the impression of a low-maintenance look, letting each hair fall wherever it wanted.And because of it, Tom seemed even more effortlessly good-looking.

Tom Cruise set trends again when he grew his hair to shoulder length.This "bad boy" look can be seen most recently in "Mission: Impossible 2" and "The Last Samurai."Cruise also grew his hair long for such movies as "Legend" (1985) and Interview with the Vampire (1994).In the latter, he even dyed his hair blond to play the vampire Lestat.This style is accomplished by starting with a cut that is tapered on the sides and longer in the front to allow for brushing back from the face and to make the hair look fuller.A bit of mousse is applied while hair is wet, and then hair is blow dried and spritzed with some shine spray.This was another easily manageable, relaxed cut that emanated Cruise's carefree manner.Hairstylists assert that it is one of the most in-demand hairstyles of their clients, and has been since "Mission: Impossible 2" came out in 2000.
